Message from our Spa Director
In 2019, Ikeda Spa celebrated the 10th anniversary of opening the first Japanese spa in Singapore. We are humbled and proud of this milestone not because of being the best spa in Singapore. Rather, we keep our heads high because we still hold to our original dream since day one. I am thankful for my team's unwavering belief and conviction in our mission - to spread the art of Japanese wellness in Singapore.
I was working in Japan. It was then that I first got to experience the ryokan (traditional Japanese inn). The feeling of being welcomed at the ryokan was so memorable. Such acts of kindness and hospitality deeply touched me; hence I wanted to bring the culture of the ryokan concept into Singapore so more people could experience such hospitality and understand its culture.
Our humble beginning was a single-level shophouse located at Bukit Timah, beautifully converted into a Japanese spa with five treatment rooms and one indoor hot onsen bath back in 2009. Ikeda Spa has been well-loved by our guests, and word of mouth spread quickly. Over the years, Ikeda Spa expanded to include ten spa treatment rooms and a zen garden spanning 3000 square feet. With a dedicated team of spa therapists and managers, Ikeda Spa has garnered more than 40 acclaimed spa awards.
We insist on having fewer but bigger spa treatment rooms in Ikeda Spa because we believe the customer experience should not be compromised for profitability.
We insist on only using the finest and more expensive spa products from Japan because we believe you deserve the best and most authentic Japanese spa experience.
We continue to review and question ourselves over our spa treatment protocols because we believe our spa therapists' skills should only improve to catch up with the ever-increasing demand for an even better wellness experience.
It has been an arduous swim against the waves of changing economy in Singapore, and we were tempted to cut costs to maintain the growth. I am glad that the team agreed unanimously that our goal is not to sell you a spa, a massage or a facial but to build a relationship of confidence and trust with you.
All the awards and accolades are not a testament to our achievement. They are the crystallisation of our customer trust in us. We are thinking hard and working even harder to repay your debt of trust in us. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for believing in Ikeda Spa.
